In memory of Erma Bombeck, who lost her fight with cancer. Here is an 'angel' sent to watch over you.
IF I HAD MY LIFE TO LIVE OVER
-by Erma Bombeck (written after she found out she was dying from cancer).
I would have gone to bed when I was sick instead of pretending the earth would go into a holding pattern if I weren't there for the day.
I would have burned the pink candle sculpted like a rose before it melted in storage.
I would have talked less and listened more.
I would have invited friends over to dinner even if the carpet was stained, or the sofa faded.
I would have eaten the popcorn in the 'good' living room and worried much less about the dirt when someone wanted to light a fire in the fireplace.
I would have taken the time to listen to my grandfather ramble about his youth.
I would have shared more of the responsibility carried by my husband.
I would never have insisted the car windows be rolled up on a summer day because my hair had just been teased and sprayed.
I would have sat on the lawn with my grass stains.
I would have cried and laughed less while watching television and more while watching life.
I would never have bought anything just because it was practical, wouldn't show soil, or was guaranteed to last a lifetime..
Instead of wishing away nine months of pregnancy, I'd have cherished every moment and realized that the wonderment growing inside me was the only chance in life to assist God in a miracle.
When my kids kissed me impetuously, I would never have said, 'Later. Now go get washed up for dinner.
' There would have been more 'I love yous' More 'I'm sorry.
But mostly, given another shot at life, I would seize every minute, look at it and really see it , live it and never give it back.
STOP SWEATING THE SMALL STUFF!!!
Don't worry about who doesn't like you, who has more, or who's doing what. Instead, let's cherish the relationships we have with those who do love us.

Perspective

One day, the father of a very wealthy family took his son on a trip to the country with the express purpose of showing him how poor people live. They spent a couple of days and nights on the farm of what would be considered a very poor family. On their return from their trip, the father asked his son, 'How was the trip?' 'It was great, Dad .' 'Did you see how poor people live?' the father asked. 'Oh yeah,' said the son. 'So, tell me, what did you learn from the trip?' asked the father.
The son answered:
'I saw that we have one dog and they had four.
We have a pool that reaches to the middle of our garden and they have a creek that has no end.
We have imported lanterns in our garden and they have the stars at night.
Our patio reaches to the front yard and they have the whole horizon.
We have a small piece of land to live on and they have fields that go beyond our sight.
We have servants who serve us, but they serve others.
We buy our food, but they grow theirs.
We have walls around our property to protect us, they have friends to protect them.'
The boy's father was speechless.
Then his son added,
'Thanks Dad for showing me how poor we are.'
Isn't per spective a wonderful thing? Makes you wonder what would happen if we all gave thanks for everything we have, instead of worrying about what we don't have.

Holiday Eating Tips

HOLIDAY EATING TIPS
1. Avoid carrot sticks. Anyone who puts carrots on a holiday buffet table knows nothing of the Christmas spirit. In fact, if you see carrots, leave immediately. Go next door, where they're serving chocolate balls.
2. Drink as much eggnog as you can - And quickly. It's rare. You cannot find it any other time of year but now. So drink up! Who cares that it has10,000 calories in every sip? It's not as if you're going to turn into an eggnog-alcoholic or something. It's a treat. Enjoy it! Have one for me.Have two! It's later than you think. It's Christmas!
3. If something comes with gravy, use it. That's the whole point of gravy.Gravy does not stand alone. Pour it on. Make a volcano out of your mashed potatoes. Fill it with gravy. Eat the volcano. Repeat.
4. As for mashed potatoes, always ask if they're made with skim milk or whole milk. If it's skim, pass. Why bother? It's like buying a sports car with an automatic transmission.
5. Do not have a snack before going to a party in an effort to control your eating. The whole point of going to a Christmas party is to eat other people's food for free. Lots of it. Hello?
6. Under no circumstances should you exercise between now and New Year's.You can do that in January when you have nothing else to do. This is the time for long naps, which you'll need after circling the buffet table while carrying a 10-pound plate of food and that vat of eggnog.
7. If you come across something really good at a buffet table, like frosted Christmas cookies in the shape and size of Santa, position yourself near them and don't budge. Have as many as you can before becoming the center of attention. They're like a beautiful pair of shoes. If you leave them behind, you're never going to see them again.
8. Same for pies. Apple, Pumpkin, Mincemeat. Have a slice of each. Or if you don't like mincemeat, have two apples and one pumpkin. Always have three. When else do you get to have more than one dessert? Labor Day?
9. Did someone mention fruitcake? Granted, it's loaded with the mandatory celebratory calories, but avoid it at all cost. I mean, have some standards!
10. One final tip: If you don't feel terrible when you leave the party or get up from the table, you haven't been paying attention.Re-read tips:Start over, but hurry, January is just around the corner.Remember this motto to live by:"Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming
"WOO- HOO!! What a ride!"
Practice Random Acts of Kindness, it's the season for giving and loving.

Intresting Perspetive

Interesting Perspetive
There was a blind girl who hated herself because she was blind.
She hated everyone, except her loving boyfriend. He was always there for her.
She told her boyfriend, 'If I could only see the world, I will marry you.'
One day, someone donated a pair of eyes to her.
When the bandages came off, she was able to see everything, including her boyfriend.
He asked her,'Now that you can see the world, will you marry me?'
The girl looked at her boyfriend and saw that he was blind. The sight of his closed eyelids shocked her. She hadn't expected that. The thought of looking at them the rest of her life led her to refuse to marry him.
Her boyfriend left in tears and days later wrote a note to her saying: 'Take good care of your eyes, my dear, for before they were yours, they were mine.'
This is how the human brain often works when our status changes.
Only a very few remember what life was like before, and who was always by their side in the most painful situations. Life Is a Gift Today before you say an unkind word - Think of someone who can't speak. Before you complain about the taste of your food - Think of someone who has nothing to eat. Before you complain about your husband or wife - Think of someone >who's crying out to GOD for a companion. Today before you complain about life - Think of someone who went too early to heaven. Before whining about the distance you drive Think of someone who walks the same distance with their feet. And when you are tired and complain about your job - Think of the unemployed, the disabled, and those who wish they had your job. And when depressing thoughts seem to get you down
Put a smile on your face and think: you're alive and still around.

By The Time:

By the time the Lord made woman,He was into his sixth day of working overtime. An angel appeared and said,"Why are you spending so much time on this one?"And the Lord answered, "Have you seen my spec sheet on her?She has to be completely washable, but not plastic, have over 200 movable parts, all replaceable and able to run on diet coke and leftovers, have a lap that can hold four children at one time, have a kiss that can cure anything from a scraped knee to a broken heart-and she will do everything with only two hands."The angel was astounded at the requirements."Only two hands!? No way!And that's just on the standard model? That's too much work for one day.Wait until tomorrow to finish.""But I won't, " the Lord protested."I am so close to finishing this creation that is so close to my own heart. She already heals herself when she is sick AND can work 18 hour days."The angel moved closer and touched the woman."But you have made her so soft, Lord.""She is soft," the Lord agreed,"but I have also made her tough. You have no idea what she can endure or accomplish"" Will she be able to think?", asked the angel. The Lord replied,"Not only will she be able to think, she will be able to reason and negotiate."The angel then noticed something, and reaching out, touched the woman's cheek."Oops, it looks like you have a leak in this model.I told you that you were trying to put too much into this one.""That's not a leak,"the Lord corrected,"that's a tear!""What's the tear for?" the angel asked. The Lord said, "The tear is her way of expressing her joy,her sorrow, her pain, her disappointment, her love, her loneliness, her grief and her pride."The angel was impressed."You are a genius, Lord. You thought of everything!Woman is truly amazing."And she is!Women have strengths that amaze men. They bear hardships and they carry burdens, but they hold happiness, love and joy. They smile when they want to scream. They sing when they want to cry. They cry when they are happy and laugh when they are nervous. They fight for what they believe in.They stand up to injustice. They don't take "no" for an answer when they believe there is a better solution. They go without so their family can have. They go to the doctor with a frightened friend. They love unconditionally. They cry when their children excel and cheer when their friends get awards. They are happy when they hear about a birth or a wedding.Their hearts break when a friend dies. They grieve at the loss of a family member, yet they are strong when they think there is no strength left. They know that a hug and a kiss can heal a broken heart.Women come in all shapes, sizes and colors. They'll drive, fly, walk, run or e-mail you to show how much they care about you.The heart of a woman is what makes the world keep turning. They bring joy, hope and love. They have compassion and ideals. They give moral support to their family and friends.Women have vital things to say and everything to give HOWEVER, IF THERE IS ONE TINY FLAW IN WOMEN,IT IS THAT THEY FORGET THEIR WORTH.

"Just a Cop"

"Just a Cop" The funeral line was long,There's an awful lot of cars,Folks came out of the restaurants,They came out of the bars. The workers at the construction sites All let their hammers drop.Someone asked."What is this all for?"And they said,"Aw, just a cop." Some chuckled at the passing cars. Some shed a silent tear Some people said,"It's stupid.all these dumb policemen here." "How come they're not out fighting' crime?Or in a doughnut shop?Sure is a lot of trouble,For someone who's just a cop." They blocked the intersections,They blocked the interstate.People yelled and cursed,"Damn, it's gonna make me late!" "This is really ridiculous!""They're makin' us all stop!""It seems they're sure wastin' time,On someone who's just a cop." Into the cemetery now,The slow procession comes,The woeful Taps are slowly played. There's loud salutes from guns. The graveyard workers shake their heads"This service is a flop.""There's lots of good words wasted,On someone who's just a cop." Yeah, just a cop to most folks.Did his duty every day.Tryin' to protect us,Till they took his life away. And when he got to heaven,St. Peter put him at the top.An angel asked him, "Who was that?"And he said, "Aw, just a cop." Author Unknown

What is a Cop's wife

WHAT IS A COP'S WIFE?
A cop's wife is a woman who is married to a man who is "married" to his job, his partner, and his badge. A cop's wife can usually be found cooking breakfast at midnight, picking up his uniform at the cleaners, and spending nights alone.A cops wife must be a good listener, not questioning him. She must be understanding when he goes our for a beer with his buddies, doesn't feel like taking her to the movies, or has an exam to study for.A cop's wife must live with shift work, lonely holidays, bad jokes, ulcers and alcohol, bulletproof vests, and fixed incomes. She is used to words like rape, robbery, assault, and child abuse. She is familiar with night school, stakeouts, overtime and being on her own. Most women are not born or raised to be a cop's wife; it is something that they have chosen to do. Some can and others cannot. She will spend each day learning, listening to, and loving a man that few people respect and most others hate. A cop's wife makes beds, breakfasts, and love to a man who spends more time with junkies, hookers, informants, pimps, and partners than he does her. She attends dinners, meetings, and sometimes funerals.A cop's wife watches as the man she loves grows old before his time, watches him become cold and unfeeling, but she will remain his friend, wife and lover. She will always be these things to him, but she also knows he is first, A COP.When a wife kisses him as he leaves for work, she will make a silent wish that he will return to her. And every time there is a knock at the door, she will pray it is not the Chief of Police and her husbands partner coming to say kind things about her husband, how brave he was, how dedicated he was. Being a cop's wife means lots of trust, love, and worry, but when he says, "I love you," it makes it all worthwhile.

Wife's Goodnight Prayer

Wife's Goodnight Prayer
Dear God as I ready myself for a night of rest, take care of my police officer he's the best. Watch over him as he works the streets, with danger and and violence surrounding his beat. I pray every night he's able to come home, because I don't want to grow old all alone. I know I married for better or worse, but some days God, his job is a curse. So please hear my prayers, Dear God this night, because I am a police officers wife.

A Police Officer's Wife

"A Police Officer's Wife" A special kind of woman: a cut above the rest,That's A Police Officer's Wife, rating her best. How many good byes are whispered, joined with a fond embrace? As duty steals her man, for the danger he must face. How often have meals been ruined - or tender moments disturbed,by a call for special duty, sparking loyalty un-swerved? It's a devil of a job, for an angel like this,Who......for the love of her man, must forsake that kiss, She can run a garden tractor; even paint a room in need,How she can stretch a dollar is a miracle indeed. She's mother, lover, chauffeur and nurse, A living symbol of: "for better or for worse." Rich is the man, reaping his rewards in life,Who chose to be the other half of A Police Officer's Wife. Hot Chocolate

Hot Chocolate
A group of graduates, well established in their careers, were talking at a reunion and decided to go visit their old university professor, now retired. During their visit, the conversation turned to complaints about stress in their work and lives. Offering his guests hot chocolate, the professor went into the kitchen and returned with a large pot of hot chocolate and an assortment of cups - porcelain, glass, crystal, some plain looking, some expensive, some exquisite, telling them to help themselves to the hot chocolate. When they all had a cup of hot chocolate in hand, the professor said: 'Notice that all the nice looking, expensive cups were taken, leaving behind the plain and cheap ones. While it is normal for you to want only the best for yourselves, that is the source of your problems and stress. The cup that you're drinking from adds nothing to the quality of the hot chocolate. In most cases it is just more expensive and in some cases even hides what we drink. What all of you really wanted was hot chocolate, not the cup; but you consciously went for the best cups..... And then you began eyeing each others cups. Now consider this: Life is the hot chocolate; your job, money and position in society are the cups. They are just tools to hold and contain life. The cup you have does not define, nor change the quality of life you have. Sometimes, by concentrating only on the cup, we fail to enjoy the hot chocolate God has provided us. God makes the hot chocolate, man chooses the cups. The happiest people don't have the best of everything. They just make the best of everything that they have. Live simply. Love generously. Care deeply. Speak kindly. And enjoy your hot chocolate!!!

Mowing Grass

Got this in an e-mail from my Mother in Law.. MOWING GRASS --- PRICELESS!!! Here is a soldier stationed in Iraq , stationed in a big sand box. He asked his wife to send him dirt ( U.S. soil), fertilizer, and some grass seed so that he can have the sweet aroma, and feel the grass grow beneath his feet When the men of the squadron have a mission that they are going on, they take turns walking through the grass and the American soil -- to bring them good luck. If you notice, he is even cutting the grass with a pair of scissors. Sometimes we are in such a hurry that we don't stop and think about the little things that we take for granted. Upon receiving this, say a little prayer for our soldiers that give and give (and give up) so unselfishly for us.

Layout Share

2 layouts I did over the Scrap Pink weekend retreat. Love the pages kits. It made it much easier since they where all put together. I had gone threw my photos at home and put them with the kits I wanted to use them on. I got 16 pages done.

Happy Fall!!

Got this in an E-mail from my friend Pam....Thanks Pam
Being a human being is like being a pumpkin. God lifts you up, takes you in, and washes all the dirt off of you. He opens you up, touches you deep inside and scoops out all the yucky stuff-- including the seeds of doubt, hate, greed, etc. Then He carves you a new smiling face and puts His light inside you to shine for all the world to see.

Scrap Pink

I am so excited I am going on a retreat this weekend. Scrap Pink!! My friend Nancy and I are going together. We had shirts made for the event too. She will be working on her wedding album. I am going to be working on a little bit of everything. I have made up some kits and put the photos with them so, I will be all set to start working. We will get there Friday afternoon. They are doing dinner there for everyone. They also include all 3 meals Saturday and a brunch on Sunday before we check out. The whole bunk bed thing should be interesting! Here is some info from scrapbooks etc's web site: About Scrap Pink Scrapbooks etc. is partnering with Susan G. Komen for the Cure® to hold a “Scrap Pink” fundraising campaign in September 2008 at independent retail stores across North America. At this event, scrapbookers like you can create layouts and projects on any topic you choose. Ten dollars of your crop fee will support Komen for the Cure’s promise to save lives and end breast cancer forever by empowering people, ensuring quality care for all, and energizing science to find the cures.
